SRO February Message - Building Healthy Relationships
1. A healthy relationship is kind, respectful, mutual, balanced and supportive. It includes trust, honesty, and independence.
2. Friends and partners respect your values and choices.
3. A healthy relationship should make you feel safe and included.
4. Boundaries are knowing what you are comfortable with. Disagreements are normal, but hurting others is not.
5. Good communication means listening and speaking calmly. Trust is built by being honest and dependable.
6. Peer pressure can push people to do things they don't want to do.
7. A healthy relationship does not involve control, fear or threats.
8. Social media behavior is part of relationships.
9. Consent means clearly saying yes without pressure or guilt and being able to change your mind.
10. Warning signs of an unhealthy relationship can include jealousy, control, isolation and emotional, mental or physical harm.
11. Love should never hurt. Asking for help is a sign of strength. Talk with someone you trust or reach out to school support services. If someone is in danger, get help immediately.
12. Everyone deserves safe, healthy relationships.
